ABOUT ME
RIGHT NOW:
I'm currently in Sydney, Australia working on new business development and social media and marketing for Inspired Adventures, an amazing company that has bridged travel and social change to raise millions of dollars for non-profit organizations around the World by harnessing the power, passion, and enthusiasm of people young and old. From climbing Kilimanjaro to cycling across Cambodia, Inspired Adventures gives people the opportunity to achieve something incredible for themselves while helping those who need our assistance the most.
JUST BEFORE:
I’ve spent the past four years reaching 70 countries on 6 continents. From building mentorship programs in Shanghai to contracting Dengue Fever in New Delhi, it has been quite the adventure. Most of this time was spent with Ashoka's Youth Venture, the global leader when it comes to youth empowerment. Last fall I completed my Master’s degree at the London School of Economics.
WAY BACK WHEN:
It all started in Anaheim, California, home of the one and only Disneyland (and me). That was 26 years ago. I attended Troy High School and graduated from American University in Washington, DC with a BA in Internatonal Service and a BA in International Media & Political Discourse.
THIS PICTURE:
In the summer of 2009 I trained for and completed a 25-mile open water marathon in the English Channel to raise funds for the Harvey Parry Appeal Fund - an organization aimed at assisting children who have lost limbs to meningitis. Through the generosity of hundreds of friends, family, and strangers, we raised more than $10,000 for the cause!
THE DETAILS:
For the last 8 years I've been on a mission - to make people young and old realize that my generation - GenerationNOWTM - is poised to change the world in a way no generation has before. My time with Ashoka's Youth Venture took me to 11 countries on 5 continents world documenting the global movement of who are already creating change. In total I met with more than 2000 young people, conducted over 100 interviews, shot nearly 40 hours of video and took close to 6000 photos. I also live-blogged the entire adventure.
Now I'm working to harness this power and make something of it by building and launching Citizen SectorTM (see more by clicking the link at the top of this page). Raise awareness. Increase understanding. Do whatever it takes to make people realize that this generation - the first truly global generation - is set to be the greatest in history. Armed with information and a resolve that is unmatched, it’s our turn. To create, to change, to dream and to do.
